The Edo House of Assembly has got a new Speaker. He is Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, who represents Esan West Constituency at the Assembly.
Rt. Hon. Onobun, earlier Monday afternoon, emerged following the impeachment of the erstwhile Speaker, Rt. Hon. Frank Okiye, member representing Esan North-East II.

Rt. Hon. Onobun, until his elevation, was the Chief Whip, after he earlier on rose from the position of House Leader. His meteoric rise to emerge the new Speaker from his previous position happened within the last 18 months.
The young lawmaker is considered a devoted party man, an advocate of good governance, and a stickler for quality leadership.
